Governor Sule to Deliver 13th Verbatim Anniversary Lecture, As Editors Vote General Musa, ‘Most Outstanding CDS In Security Management’.

In the countdown to the 13th anniversary and annual leadership award of Verbatim, Nigeria’s leading investigative news magazine published in Abuja since 2012, by former editors of the iconic Newswatch, Engr. A.A. Sule, Governor of Nasarawa State has been named Guest Speaker of the anniversary lecture, titled ”Nigeria, the Changing Times and Challenge of Leadership: Candid Views of an Uncommon Patriot.”

In a press release issued yesterday by the leadership of Verbatim, signed by Tobs Agbaegbu, Editor-in-Chief, and Dr. Ibrahim Modibbo, Chairman of the Board of Editors, Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, was named the ‘Most Outstanding Chief of Defence  Staff in Security Management’ in Nigeria.

With two Governors from the North-West geo-political zones in Nigeria: Dauda Lawal from Zamfara and Dikko Umar Radda from Katsina, earlier named as ‘Governor of the year’, and ‘Outstanding Personality of the Year’ award winners respectively, the Board of Editors of Verbatim assured Nigerians of a special event where contemporary issues of great national concern will be discussed and dissected for the good of all.

In the press statement yesterday, Verbatim also announced that the Nasarawa Governor will also be honoured as Gvernor of the Year in commendation of his towering, good governance achievements in the state, and that the Governor has confirmed that he will physically be present to receive his leadership award and deliver the anniversary lecture.

The media platform said in a statement it earlier released on March 2, that they are in receipt of acceptance letters from the governors of Katsina and Zamfara states, confirming attendance in person.

A number of other personalities and institutions have also indicated readiness to be part of the Verbatim leadership award and 13th anniversary program.

They include two members of the House of Representatives. They are, Honourable Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, populary called GNI, representing Imeko-Afon federal constituency, Ogun State, and Hon. (Prof.) Paul Nnamchi, representative of Enugu East/Isi-Uzo federal constituency. The two are to be honored for Excellence and Quality representation in the 10th House of Representatives.

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, (ICPC) also accepted to participate. The ICPC will receive award as ‘most impactful institution of the year.’

The media platform announced that a number of personalities, drawn from the list of 36 state governors in Nigeria, Ministers and heads of government agencies, legislators, philanthropists and captains of industry will be honoured and presented with the prestigious Verbatim Media Awards (VMA) at the occasion, and that a renowned scholar will be named soon who will give this year’s Verbatim leadership lecture.

20 categories of awards where awardees were chosen from include: awards for personality/man of the year; personality/woman of the year; governor(s) of the year; minister(s) of the year; long-time achievement award; and honours for outstanding legislative performance.

He listed other categories to include: philanthropist(s) of the year, women of excellence award; CEO of the year; bank and bankers of the year; corporate excellence award for organizations and institutions; best brands award, to be chosen from products of industries in the private sector; and award for outstanding young people.

The aim, according to Agbaegbu is to inspire and promote excellence in work places, and one way is by identifying and encouraging personalities and institutions involved in great works of development and nation-building in Nigeria. “The media are great agents of change in every society and country, and this is one-way verbatim editors and management chose to make a contribution annually,” he said.
