Professor (Mrs) Caroline Chinyere Umezurike has passed on. She passed away peacefully on April 30,2024 leaving behind a legacy of academic excellence, community service, and deep familial love.
She was predeceased by her husband, Professor Gabriel Maduka Umezurike of Obiakpu Egbema in Ohaji/Egbema LGA, Imo State, and was distinguished Secretary-General of the Committee of Vice-Chancellors of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as well as an OFR holder.
Professor (Mrs)Umezurike was an old girl of the famous Queen of Rosary College (QRC) Onitsha in the early sixties. She earned her B.Sc. Nursing from University of Ibadan which where she met her loving husband Prof. Gabriel Maduka Umezurike. She proceeded to UK to practice Nursing. On return to Nigeria, she completed a B.Sc. Honours in Business Administration from the University of Lagos in 1986, followed by an MBA in Management from the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus in 1988. She bagged he PhD. in Management, specializing in Organizational Behaviour from Rivers State University of Science and Technology in 2001.
Professor CC Umezuruike had numerous and prestigious affiliations some of which include Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Sales Management (FNISM), Member, Institute of Management. Nigeria (MNIM), a Justice of Peace in Imo State, an active member of the Business and Professional Women Association and the National Council of Women’s Society. She also held memberships in the Academy of Management Nigeria and the Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria.
Her career was marked by significant contribution, across various organizations. She had notable academic publications to her credit.
In her community, she was a trailblazer and advocate for women’s empowerment. She led the MEACHETA NWANNE Association in mobilizing women for poverty’ alleviation and received numerous accolades including the High Chief ADAOMA EJI-AGA-MBA 1 title, the EZINNE Award, and served as a Patron of the Girl Guides Association.
Professor C.C. Umezurike’s life was marked by her dedication to education, community service, and her unwavering Christian faith. She was known for her compassion, wisdom, and tireless efforts to improve the lives of those around her. She was a loving mother, a doting grandmother, and a cherished member of her community.
Her hobbies included reading, listening to classical music, dancing, and participating in church activities. She was a beacon of faith and love, deeply committed to her family and her community.
Professor Mrs. Caroline Chinyere Umezurike’s life was a testament to the power of God, education, service, and faith. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her and her legacy will continue to inspire future generations.
The burial arrangement as released by the family states that there will be a vigil mass on Wednesday October 16,2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Works layout, Owerri Imo State by 5pm. A service of songs holds in her honour on Thursday October 17, 2024 at Protea Hotel Banquet Hall, Plot H/I, Nekede Pocket Layout, Protea Round, Owerri Imo State. There will be a Mass on October 19,2024 at St Joseph’s Catholic Church, Obiakpu Egbema, Imo State, which will be followed by a private interment with the family at Umezurike Residence, Omampe Villa, Obiakpu Egbema, Imo State while the thanksgiving Mass will be on Sunday October 20, 2024 at St Joseph’s Catholic Church, Obiakpu Egbema, Imo State.
Noble Professor Caroline Chinyere Umuzurike was of our Lady of Queen of All Saints, Okigwe Commandary, Ladies Auxiliary of LAUX 395 Knight of St John International, Okigwe where she contributed immensely to the growth of the Order.
